The Sound of The Jane

En:close - ‘to surround or close off on all sides’. In essence this is the creative mission that was set in motion by recording the sounds that define 2-Michelin star restaurant The Jane; from the original key opening the former military chapel's door, to the sound of chef and owner Nick Bril preparing his favorite dishes. Ten of Armada’s finest artists were given carte blanche to shape these sonic textures into music. The result is printed to vinyl and celebrated with an exclusive release show at the restaurant. Release: May 15th 2022.

Shaping the sonic essence of Marie Jo. Music direction, composition and sound design across the collections.

For SS19 and AW19, the music was created on set, using the sounds of the environment. Each of the campaigns starts from a musical baseline, finding inspiration in brand identity, campaign direction and energy of the specific setting. This baseline is musically adapted to each final video cut, and provided with sound design afterwards.

De Bijloke

Concert Hall Signal

Sounddesign for the oldest functional concert hall in the world. In collaboration with percussionist Koen Plaetinck, a new sound was created with the intention to provide a link with the building's original function as a hospital. Back in the 13th century, the current concert hall was a place where patients were able to follow the service from their beds. Using sounds recorded from the oldest bell on the site, we get in touch with the basic functions of music: connecting, healing, and finding attachment to something bigger than ourselves.

Together with various artists and craftspeople, Piet Boon took care of the restaurant’s design, providing a unique atmosphere for a unique culinary and musical experience.
